ASU took part in the launch of the Smart Tandag: Year 1 project and ceremonial MOA signing held on July 7, 2025, in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
The project, titled “Building a Smart and Sustainable City through STI-Based Technologies for Tandag City Waters,” highlights the use of science and technology to support coastal and marine resource management.
ASU, represented by President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, is one of the main partners in the initiative. The ASU team was led by Prof. Julie Ann Salido and included Mr. Edward Gumban, Dr. Ma. Fe P. Popes, Prof. Mary Ann P. Martirez, and Mr. Kirk Hilario.
The university will be contributing its SEAWAVeS technology to the project.
The event also included the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement among DOST-Caraga, LGU-Tandag, ASU, and NEMSU, signifying their joint commitment to building a smart and sustainable Tandag City.
