Banga, Aklan — Aklan State University (ASU) welcomed a delegation from the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) for an onsite orientation and facility inspection. The event, held at the ASU Library Audio-Visual Room.
The visiting team, composed of experts from the DA-BSWM Laboratory Services Division and the PD 1435 Technical Assistance Group, came to assess the university’s preparedness to operate a soil testing facility in line with national standards under Presidential Decree 1435.
During the orientation, the DA-BSWM team discussed the lab’s potential services and emphasized the importance of proper systems and safety protocols. University officials and faculty from the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Sciences actively participated in the session, showing strong support for the initiative.
Following the orientation, the delegation proceeded with the actual inspection of the ASU Soils Laboratory. Their feedback will help guide the next steps in setting up a fully functional and accredited soil laboratory at ASU.
This initiative is expected to strengthen ASU’s role in agricultural research and extension, offering valuable support to farmers, researchers, and local government units across Aklan and nearby provinces.
