3rd International Agri-Ecotourism Congress

Aklan State University (ASU), in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) hosted the 3rd International Agri-Ecotourism Congress on June 9, 2025, at the Marzon Hotel Executive Hall in Kalibo, Aklan. The event carries the theme “Global Pathways: Bridging Cultures and Opportunities through Sustainable Agri-Ecotourism.”

The congress highlights the vital role of agri-ecotourism in promoting sustainable development and cross-cultural collaboration.
The event commenced with an inspirational message by ASU President, Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin. The Keynote Speech was delivered by Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter, CESO III of the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute, emphasized policy and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen agri-ecotourism.

Plenary sessions featured international insights on sustainable tourism. Mr. Van Cung Nguyen of Vietnam presented TSET Co.’s EduTourism strategies.

Ms. Bridget Giffei, a Peace Corps Response Volunteer, shared lessons from Napa County, California, USA’s agri-ecotourism model and its application to the Philippine context.

The third plenary session highlighted innovations in agrotechnology. Dr. Ir. Dian Astriani, S.P., M.P., Head of the Study Program of the Faculty of Agrotechnology at Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, Indonesia, presented on “Innovation of Environmentally Friendly Agrotechnology Supporting Sustainable Agriculture in Synergy with Agrotourism in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.”

Bringing together academic leaders, officials, and global experts, the congress serves as a key platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange toward resilient and sustainable agri-ecotourism pathways.
