Kalibo. Aklan. The College of Industrial Education (CIE) at Aklan State University – Kalibo Campus successfully celebrated its Educators’ Week from March 5–7, 2025, with the theme: “Empowering Educators, Cultivating Growth, Nurturing Minds, and Inspiring Futures with Technical-Vocational Skills.” The event was organized by the Young Educators’ Society (YES) under the leadership of Mr. Michael James T. Dela Cruz, a BTVTED-ET 3B student, and YES Adviser, Ms. Lea I. Paloma.
The celebration kicked off on March 5, 2025, with an opening program attended by college officials, including Dr. Amzi V. Martirez, Dean of the College of Industrial Education; Dr. Martina R. Rebustes, BTVTED Program Chair; and Dr. Leunamatileme G. Tosoc, Head of Academic Affairs, along with faculty and students.
The event included talks from Professor Miquel Von R. Oquendo, Chair of the BS Information Systems Program, who highlighted the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia and social media.
Meanwhile, Ms. Janica Anne Dela Peña, Provincial Youth Development Officer of the Provincial Government of Aklan, inspired students with a talk on youth empowerment. She emphasized the importance of self-determination and community impact, stating, “An empowered youth carves their path for themselves and their community.” She encouraged students to strive for excellence, reminding them that “Di lang basta ‘Okay na ‘to.’ Dapat ‘sumakses’ ka.”
One of the event’s highlights was the Quiz Bee, hosted by Mr. Kevin Mathew M. Malolos from BTVTED-HRS 3C, which tested participants on various BTVTED subjects. The second day featured demonstrations of technical-vocational skills, showcasing students’ expertise. Additionally, there were singing and dance contests, along with parlor games, fostering excitement and teamwork among participants.
The celebration concluded on Friday, March 7, 2025, marking a successful week of learning, collaboration, and empowerment for ASU Kalibo’s future educators. The Young Educators’ Society and the College of Industrial Education take pride in organizing an event that honed students’ technical skills and inspired them to become innovative and passionate educators in their fields.
