Aklan State University (ASU) joined government agencies, security forces, community representatives, and peace partners in the Peace Covenant Signing for the ASU Project BITUON during the 2026 National Peace Consciousness Month Celebration on September 17, 2026, at Barangay Cabugao, Ibajay, Aklan.
The activity also featured the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bamboo Seedling Production Facility, supporting the project’s efforts toward sustainable livelihood, environmental restoration, and community development.
Mayor Jose Miguel M. Miraflores of Ibajay was present during the activity and delivered the welcome remarks. Representing Aklan State University were Dr. Michael T. Ibisate, Director of Extension and Community Services (ECS); Prof. Jerby J. Paderes, ASU-Ibajay Campus Director; Mr. Edgar M. Prado, ECS Chair of ASU-Ibajay; and Joven M. Morales, Project BITUON Leader/Proponent.
Also present were Mr. Dominique Monido, Division Chief, Program 4, representing OPAPRU Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento; Mr. Orly Agudes, Planning Officer IV of the Provincial Planning and Development Office, representing Aklan Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores; PLTCOL Valen de los Santos, representing Aklan PNP Provincial Director PCOL Enrico Ramos; Mr. John V. Bustamante, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer, representing Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Engr. Ernesto Anino; and Ms. Jecel T. Pranuelas, Senior Business Counselor I of DTI.
The activity was likewise attended by Ms. Jessy N. Batoy, KAPATIRAN-Aklan Chapter President; Mrs. Gemma Angelica Sijera Agudes, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator of Ibajay; SSG Jan Niรฑo Antecristo Lisondra of the 52nd Engineering Battalion; LTC Elmar L. Salvador of the 82nd Infantry Battalion; Capt. Louie Palan, representing the Barangay Cabugao Community Peace Dividend; Mr. Mat L. Crespo, OIC Assistant District Engineer of DPWH, representing District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos; and representatives from the Provincial Engineering Office, including Engr. Bobby Dela Cruz, Acting Provincial Engineer, along with Engr. Marc Icamina, Engr. Jimuel Teodosio, Engr. Nathan Lachica, and Engr. Jasper Lachica.
The Peace Covenant Signing highlighted the shared commitment of government agencies, institutions, security forces, and community partners to advancing peace, sustainable development, and community-based initiatives in Ibajay.
