Aklan State University (ASU) participated in an exploratory meeting with Cagayan State University (CSU) and the Aklan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AKELCO) on July 9, 2026, at the CSU Carig Campus to discuss a proposed tripartite collaboration aimed at advancing sustainable electromobility initiatives in Boracay.
The ASU delegation, led by University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, together with Prof. Richard Dionisio, NSTP Director, joined CSU officials headed by Dr. Arthur G. Ibaรฑez, OIC University President, and Engr. Roger P. Rumpon, Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Carig. Joining the discussions from AKELCO were Mr. Virgilio C. Sacdalan, Board President, who is also a former member of the Aklan State University Board of Regents, and Atty. Ariel B. Gepty, General Manager.
The meeting served as a venue to explore collaborative opportunities among the three institutions, bringing together CSU’s expertise in electromobility research and development, ASU’s commitment to innovation and community engagement, and AKELCO’s role in supporting the energy requirements of future electric mobility initiatives. The collaboration seeks to explore sustainable transportation solutions that can benefit Boracay and other communities in Aklan.
During the meeting, the Electromobility Research and Development Center (EMRDC) presented CSU’s flagship electric mobility technologies, including the 6+1 and 3+1 Electric Tricycles (eTrike), Converted Electric Tricycle (c-Trike), Standardized Battery Swapping Technology (BatSwap), All Electric Tourist Transport Tram (eTram), Electric Public Utility Bus (ePUB), eGolf Cart, and the Electric Multi-Purpose Boat (eMPBoat).
Following the discussions, the delegates toured the EMRDC facilities, where they gained firsthand insights into CSU’s research, development, and fabrication of its homegrown electric vehicle technologies.
The exploratory meeting reflects the shared commitment of ASU, CSU, and AKELCO to strengthen institutional partnerships and pursue innovative, sustainable solutions that contribute to clean energy adoption and environmentally responsible transportation.
