Dr. Gene T. Seneris of the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Sciences (CAFES), Aklan State University, proudly secured 2nd Place – Best Scientific Poster at the 2026 Visayas Regional Scientific Meeting (RSM) held in Tacloban City, Leyte.
His awarded research entitled “Single-Fiber Tensile Strength Analysis of Locally Grown Abaca (Musa textilis Née) Cultivars in Aklan, Philippines” was co-authored by Gene T. Seneris, Franz Marielle N. Garcia, Rosemarie T. Tapic, Ariel G. Mactal, Fernan T. Fiegalan, Anna Maria Lourdes S. Latonio
The Scientific Poster Competition gathered outstanding research entries from the Visayas Clusters (Regions VI, V, VIII, and NIR). From Region VI, only the Top 3 papers were selected for the final competition—two of which were proudly represented by Aklan State University, showcasing its strong research excellence:

The conference served as a platform for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to share innovations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
