Aklan State University (ASU) and the University of San Agustin (USA) formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 12, 2025, at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City, marking the beginning of a transformative partnership in research, academic collaboration, and scientific advancement.
The agreement focuses on strengthening ASUโs research landscape through collaboration with USAโs distinguished research centers, the Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (C2B2) and the Center for Natural Drug Discovery and Development (CND3), both leading institutions in molecular biology, biotechnology, and natural product drug discovery.
This strategic alliance will pave the way for faculty and student mentorship, joint research projects, technical training workshops, and research immersions, cultivating innovation and excellence in line with the shared vision of both universities.
Representing Aklan State University was Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, University President, while Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, OSA, University President, signed on behalf of the University of San Agustin.
Together, ASU and USA reaffirm their commitment to driving research that uplifts communities, fosters innovation, and contributes to sustainable national and global development.
