Disaster-related Work/Class Suspension

Aklan State University releases guidelines for Disaster-related Work/Class Suspension.
Per Memo Order No. 10-1060, s. 2025 released by the Office of the President, the following guidelines are hereby adopted to streamline preparedness and harmonize policies on automatic work and class suspension in the event of a disaster (typhoons/tropical storm or earthquakes), in view of the increase in the number of occurring earthquakes all over the country in recent weeks, in addition to the prevailing “typhoon season” and the high probability of the “La Niña Phenomenon” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) until the end of the year.
1. Low Alert/Risk Level (Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal or TCWS No. 1 or Earthquake Intensity I – IV): No suspension of work/class
2. Moderate Alert/Risk Level: Automatic Suspension of Face-to-face Classes for All Levels; Essential workforce required (for TCWS No. 2 and Earthquake Intensity Level V). Automatic suspension of work/class for all levels (for TCWS No. 3 or Intensity Levels VI – VII).
3. High Alert/Risk Level (TCWS No. 4 – 5 or Intensity Levels VIII – X): Work and classes for all levels are cancelled.
Additional guidelines:
1. In case of low-level risk assessment, students and personnel may not report for class / work if travel from their homes is deemed dangerous or if LGUs or the Provincial Government declares suspension of work / class. They may coordinate with their teachers or immediate supervisors for alternative / flexible modes of learning or work arrangements.
2. When face-to-face classes are suspended, alternative modes of learning shall take effect, as stipulated in the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) of the university.
3. Specific announcements for work/class suspension shall be released in cases of severe rainshowers/thunderstorms or incidents of flooding even if storm warning signals are not raised over the province of Aklan or the municipalities within the service area of the university.
