Lezo, Aklan — On August 30, 2025, a Community-Based Educational and Literacy Development Training Workshop on Financial Literacy, with the theme “Sensitization, Skills, and Creativity,” was successfully conducted in Brgy. Silakat Nonok, spearheaded by Project Leader Dr. Aphrile L. De Angel.
Mrs. Geraldine O. Tan, Brgy. Councilor, welcomed the participants on behalf of Brgy. Capt. Hon. Arsenio T. Ureta, while Dr. Martina R. Rebustes, Chairperson of the BTVTEd Program, delivered the rationale. Serving as emcee, Dr. Sergio F. Tolentino III, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Shanna May I. Bautista, faculty member of Aklan State University–New Washington.
Dr. Bautista led two engaging sessions: “Money at Home: How to Manage Family Finances” and “Earn at Home: Budget, Simple Businesses, and Savings.” To gauge outcomes, pre- and post-tests were facilitated by Dr. Ma. Fe Popes and Dr. Leunamatileme G. Tosoc.
Certificates were awarded to the resource speaker by Dr. de Angel and Dr. Amzi V. Martirez, Dean of the College of Industrial Education, while Dr. Rebustes and Prof. Mary Ann P. Martirez, ECS Chair of ASU Kalibo, awarded certificates to participants.
Also present were CIE faculty members Mr. Lester T. Redaniel and Mr. Steven Orale, who expressed their support for the initiative.
The workshop underscored the value of financial literacy in building resilient families and highlighted the commitment of Dr. Aphrile L. De Angel and her team in bringing transformative education closer to the community.
