Aklan State University (ASU) – Kalibo took part in the 2025 Arbor Day celebration, reinforcing its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in alignment with Republic Act No. 10176, or the Arbor Day Act of 2012.

The celebration began with a short program, officially opened by OIC-Campus Director, Engr. Neil Samuel G. Samson. The significance of the event was highlighted in a message delivered by Dr. Leunamatileme G. Tosoc, Campus Information Officer, who emphasized that Arbor Day is not only about planting trees but about sowing seeds of resilience, responsibility, and reverence for the land.

The Arbor Day activities were officially launched by NSTP Director, Prof. Richard E. Dionisio, and hosted by Ms. Sarah Joy F. Billones, faculty member of the College of Industrial Technology. These activities included tree planting, landscaping, and beautification initiatives, led by the different colleges and programs under the guidance of their respective Deans and Program Chairs.
The event was held in line with Executive Order No. 029, Series of 2025, which declared August 15, 2025 as Aklanโ€™s official Arbor Day, following the provinceโ€™s General Ordinance No. 006, Series of 2014.

This yearโ€™s celebration strongly resonates with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through tree planting and beautification projects, ASU contributes to combating climate change, protecting terrestrial ecosystems, and fostering collaboration among various sectors.
Mabuhay ang Aklan! Mabuhay ang Arbor Day! Mabuhay ang Kalikasan! ๐ŸŒณ
