Aklan State University (ASU) conducted the “ISO 9001:2015 Internal Quality Audit Refresher Workshop: Strengthening Audit Skills for Continuous Improvement” on July 29, 2025, at the ASU Library AVR. The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and auditing skills of ASU’s internal quality auditors to ensure the continuous improvement of the university’s quality management system.
The program began with a prayer led by Ms. Karen Joy D. Mationg, Quality Assurance Officer II. This was followed by a welcome address from Dr. Luchelyn A. Beltran, Director of Quality Assurance, who highlighted the importance of regularly updating the auditors’ competencies to sustain ASU’s commitment to quality service.
Dr. Anna Mae C. Relingo also delivered her message, emphasizing the vital role of internal auditors in maintaining the university’s compliance with ISO standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Afterwards, Dr. Anne Cecily R. Samar, University Quality Internal Lead Auditor, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Renelda P. Nacianceno, a distinguished academic leader and quality assurance advocate. Dr. Nacianceno currently serves as Associate Professor V and Quality Assurance Director at Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U). She is well-known for her extensive work in accreditation as a Team Leader and Coordinator under AACCUP, leading evaluations in several top universities across the country. Her expertise and dedication to quality assurance were recognized in 2017, when she was awarded as the 5th Outstanding Accreditor by AACCUP.
Dr. Nacianceno shared valuable insights and practical approaches to conducting effective internal quality audits. The workshop provided participants with updated knowledge on ISO 9001:2015 requirements and strategies to enhance ASU’s internal audit processes.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Fanny E. Patricio, who expressed her gratitude to the speaker and participants for their active engagement and commitment to ASU’s quality journey.
The refresher workshop served as a meaningful platform for strengthening the capabilities of ASU’s internal quality auditors, reinforcing the university’s dedication to delivering excellent services through a robust quality management system.
