ASU Presents Comprehensive Strategic Plan 2025–2034 to ASU Kalibo Stakeholders

Kalibo, Aklan – Aklan State University (ASU) convened its stakeholders for the formal presentation of the Comprehensive Strategic Plan 2025–2034 on July 24, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the ASU-Kalibo Function Hall.

The event opened with Dr. Anna Mae C. Relingo, Vice President for Administration, delivering the opening remarks on behalf of SUC President III, Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin. Dr. Relingo emphasized the strategic plan as a guiding framework in realizing ASU’s bold vision of becoming “An Innovative University for Sustainable Futures.”

The program proceeded with Ms. Junaly M. Relado, Planning Officer II, presenting the Board of Regents (BOR)-approved Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO). She underscored ASU’s commitment to a mission that promotes Progressive and Transformative Education, Research for Impact, Inclusive Community Engagement, Mainstreamed Technological Advancements, and Excellence in Service Delivery—pillars that define the university’s direction in the coming decade.

Mr. Arthur E. Jizmundo, Planning Officer III, followed with a detailed presentation of the newly approved ASU organizational structure, designed to improve institutional responsiveness, administrative efficiency, and academic innovation.

The presentation of the proposed roadmap and strategic milestones of the Comprehensive Strategic Plan 2025–2034 was delivered by Dr. Michael T. Ibisate, Director for Planning and Development. Dr. Ibisate outlined ASU’s strategic priorities, including internationalization, quality assurance, research productivity, digital transformation, and stronger stakeholder collaboration.

During the open forum facilitated by Mr. Jizmundo, several key stakeholders shared thoughtful inputs and raised relevant concerns. The President of the University Student Council–Kalibo expressed appreciation for being included in the strategic planning process and advocated for a more inclusive university environment by inquiring about the integration of anti-discrimination policies and guidelines on gender expression for LGBTQ+ students. Faculty members raised questions regarding the implications of the newly approved organizational structure, particularly its effects on academic and administrative operations, and also emphasized the need for clear and comprehensive guidelines on the composition of alumni associations per college. Additionally, a representative from the industry sector underscored the importance of their involvement in curriculum review to ensure that ASU’s academic programs remain aligned with the evolving demands of the labor market.

University officials addressed all queries with clarity and professionalism, affirming the institution’s dedication to transparency, inclusivity, and evidence-based decision-making.

The event concluded with Dr. Angeline G. Regalado, ASU-Kalibo Campus Director, delivering the closing remarks, expressing appreciation for the active participation of all sectors in shaping the university’s strategic future.

The presentation of the Comprehensive Strategic Plan 2025–2034 marks a significant milestone in ASU’s pursuit of innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development—anchored on its renewed vision and mission, and driven by the collective resolve of its academic community and partners.
