ASU’S AgriBits bags 2nd Place at Agri-Tech Innovate: Ideation Workshop in Region VI

A team from Aklan State University secured 2nd Place at the Agri-Tech Innovate: Ideation Workshop in Region VI, showcasing their innovative approach to digital solutions in agriculture.

The ASU AgriBits team was composed of Aljune C. Yatar and Arjoe D. Solidum, both third-year BS Computer Science students from ASU-Ibajay, alongside Alwin L. Andrade, a third-year BS Agriculture (Crop Science major) student from ASU-Banga. They were guided by their coaches, Mr. Jess Z. Masula, ICT Chairperson of ASU-Ibajay, and Mr. John Carlo S. Angeles, BS Agriculture third-year adviser.

The team’s impressive pitch earned them second place among participants from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the region.

The team’s pitch in the Digi Agri Hacki Project is a pre-acceleration initiative to engage Filipino youth in developing digital solutions for the agriculture and fisheries sectors. Through ideation workshops, mentoring, and a pitching competition, the program encourages innovation, collaboration, and digital transformation to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of agri-food systems. The project may be spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

This achievement highlights ASU’s dedication to fostering creativity, problem-solving, and digital innovation in agriculture and fisheries. The success of the AgriBits team demonstrates the university’s commitment to leveraging technology to address real-world agricultural challenges.
