Aklan Startup Innovation Hub Launching and MOU signing

Dr. Emily M. Arangote attended launching and MOU signing of the Aklan Startup Innovation Hub today, April 29, 2024 at the DOST Aklan PSTO, Provincial Capitol Compound, Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.

The event was attended by Gov. Jose Enriquez Miraflores, Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, ISAT-U President, Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga, DOST VI Regional Director, Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, Executive Director, Aklan ICT Council, Janica Ann Dela Peña of Provincial Youth Development Council. In attendance to the event also are representatives from Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The program began with an opening message from Dr. Salistre. ISAT-U’s VPRE, Dr. Carmelo V. Ambut gave the introduction and overview of the Unified Movement in Western Visayas to Accelerate Startup and Spinoff Development (UMWAD Western Visayas). Followed by the ceremonial signing and messages from Engr. Gelonga and Gov. Miraflores then the launching and ribbon cutting of Aklan Startup Innovation Hub.

UMWAD Western Visayas is the local Consortium of the Regional Startup Enablers for Ecosystem Development (ReSEED) Program. This initiative is focused towards the unified approach in enabling and scaling start-ups and spin-offs ecosystem and region.

ASU is one of the stakeholders of the UMWAD.
