Aklan State University (ASU), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region VI, and DTI aklan conducted an orientation on the HiblaTek mobile application\u2014a locally developed innovation aimed at supporting the loomweaving industry through smart technology.<\/p>\n
Held on August 1, 2025, at the ATI Conference Hall in Banga, Aklan, the activity brought together 18 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the Wearables and Homestyles Industry Cluster (WHIC) program, alongside ASU researchers and DTI representatives.<\/p>\n
HiblaTek, launched earlier this year, is a user-friendly mobile application that uses image recognition technology to automatically count warp and weft threads in handwoven fabrics. This automation helps standardize measurements, improve accuracy, and reduce time spent on manual thread counting\u2014directly addressing pain points in traditional weaving processes.<\/p>\n
The orientation showcased the app\u2019s potential to enhance quality control, product innovation, and market readiness for local loom weaving enterprises. Participants also learned how HiblaTek can serve as a valuable tool in improving product consistency and meeting market standards.<\/p>\n
