Kalibo, Aklan \u2013 July 10, 2025. In its commitment to align with CHED standards and program requirements, the Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) conducted a benchmarking visit to Aklan State University \u2013 Kalibo, recognized as a leading institution and early implementer of the Bachelor of Industrial Technology (BIndTech) program.<\/p>\n
This visit supports BISCAST\u2019s recent transition from the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) to the newly approved BIndTech program, following the endorsement of its Board of Trustees. The benchmarking activity aimed to gain valuable insights into the implementation of BIndTech at ASU – Kalibo and explore the institutional strengths of its College of Engineering and Architecture, particularly the BS Civil Engineering program.<\/p>\n
The BISCAST delegation was led by Engr. Analyn A. Madrid, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and included key officials: Engr. Roy D. Tipones, Dean of the College of Engineering; Dr. Isidro R. Bola, Dean of Trades and Technology; Prof. Ana Sheryl Lynn S. Catura, Director of Advanced Education Services and Quality Assurance; and Ms. Maria Theresa V. Rodrigues, Director of Administrative Services. The group represented BISCAST under the leadership of its OIC-President, Dr. Deanna C. Reghim.<\/p>\n
On behalf of ASU Kalibo Campus Director Dr. Angeline G. Regalado, the delegation was warmly received by Dr. Amzi V. Martirez, Officer-in-Charge of the Kalibo Campus. Accompanying him were Prof. Elvi I. Tamayo, Dean of the College of Industrial Technology; Engr. Neil Samuel G. Samson, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture; Prof. Richard E. Dionisio, NSTP Director; and faculty members from the College of Industrial Technology.<\/p>\n
BISCAST officials toured key facilities and engaged in collaborative discussions focused on how both institutions can continue to elevate technical and engineering education to meet national priorities and global industry demands.<\/p>\n
This benchmarking initiative highlights the importance of collaboration among state universities and colleges in advancing academic programs through shared expertise and innovations. It also serves as a foundation for future partnerships in research, quality assurance, and curriculum enhancement.<\/p>\n
As BISCAST moves forward with the rollout of its BIndTech program, the knowledge and best practices gathered from ASU – Kalibo will serve as a crucial guide in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, CHED-compliant industrial technology education.<\/p>\n
