Kalibo, Aklan \u2013 June 17, 2025 \u2014 The Aklan Innovators Hub Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) was officially launched at Aklan State University (ASU) \u2013 Kalibo, through the collaboration of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Provincial Government of Aklan, and ASU.<\/p>\n
The FabLab is part of DTI\u2019s Shared Service Facility (SSF) program, aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), students, and researchers turn their ideas into actual products. It will serve as a creative space where they can design, prototype, and improve their innovations using modern tools and technology.<\/p>\n
Aklan Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores attended the launch and expressed his full support, saying the facility will open new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and aspiring innovators.<\/p>\n
DTI Region 6 Regional Director Rachel N. Nufable highlighted the FabLab\u2019s role in strengthening the partnership between government, industry, and academe. She emphasized how it can help MSMEs develop new products, enhance existing ones, and open new income streams.<\/p>\n
DTI Aklan Provincial Director Romel L. Amihan also gave a message of thanks and encouragement to all attendees, especially those who worked together to make the project possible. He acknowledged the joint efforts that led to the successful launch and expressed optimism about the positive impact the FabLab will bring to the province.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, ASU President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin assured continued support from the university, noting that the FabLab will not only benefit students in their academic and research activities, but will also serve the needs of MSMEs and the wider Aklanon community.<\/p>\n
With its opening, the Aklan Innovators Hub FabLab marks a major step toward building a stronger innovation ecosystem in the province, empowering students, entrepreneurs, and local industries to explore new ideas, solve real-world problems, and drive sustainable growth for Aklan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
