Aklan State University (ASU), in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) hosted the 3rd International Agri-Ecotourism Congress on June 9, 2025, at the Marzon Hotel Executive Hall in Kalibo, Aklan. The event carries the theme \u201cGlobal Pathways: Bridging Cultures and Opportunities through Sustainable Agri-Ecotourism.\u201d<\/p>\n
The congress highlights the vital role of agri-ecotourism in promoting sustainable development and cross-cultural collaboration.
\nThe event commenced with an inspirational message by ASU President, Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin. The Keynote Speech was delivered by Engr. Remelyn R. Recoter, CESO III of the Department of Agriculture\u2019s Agricultural Training Institute, emphasized policy and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen agri-ecotourism.<\/p>\n
Plenary sessions featured international insights on sustainable tourism. Mr. Van Cung Nguyen of Vietnam presented TSET Co.\u2019s EduTourism strategies.<\/p>\n
Ms. Bridget Giffei, a Peace Corps Response Volunteer, shared lessons from Napa County, California, USA\u2019s agri-ecotourism model and its application to the Philippine context.<\/p>\n
The third plenary session highlighted innovations in agrotechnology. Dr. Ir. Dian Astriani, S.P., M.P., Head of the Study Program of the Faculty of Agrotechnology at Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, Indonesia, presented on \u201cInnovation of Environmentally Friendly Agrotechnology Supporting Sustainable Agriculture in Synergy with Agrotourism in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.\u201d<\/p>\n
